Solved Example on Horizontal Axis

Point B is 5 units to the left of point A on the horizontal axis. Find the coordinates of B if A is at (8, 7).
Choices:
A. (3, 7)
B. (13, 7)
C. (7, 8)
D. (8, 12)
Correct Answer: A
Solution:
Step 1: (8, 7)  8 on the x-axis and 7 on the y-axis.
Step 2: Point B is 5 units to the left of point A on the horizontal axis, i.e. x-axis.
Step 3: So, the x-coordinate of B is 8 – 5 = 3
Step 4: The coordinates of point B is (3, 7).
