1. What are HPL’s practices regarding the collection of information from children under the age of 13?

Top

We do not collect personally identifiable information without getting parental consent in advance. We give parents the opportunity to prevent use of the information and the child’s participation in a Web site activity. We do not disclose personally identifiable information to third parties or post such information on our site. We do not use games, prizes or other activities to entice children to give more information than is needed for participation in an activity.

HPL does not intend to knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13, except for limited circumstances that are allowed under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The registration process entails providing the first and last name of the user, e-mail address, grade level, and school district. However, in the case of children under 13, the registration process requires the verifiable consent of the child’s parent or guardian before this information is collected. At the time of registration, the user is asked if under the age of 13. If so, then parental consent must be obtained before completing the registration process. After the parent’s consent is verified, the registration process can be completed for that child. By consenting to the child’s registration, the parent thereby acknowledges full responsibility for their child’s use of the site, including use of the forums and online tutors.

2. What personally identifiable information does HPL collect?

HPL is the sole owner of the information collected on HPL. HPL collects information from our users at the time of registration. In order to use this Web site, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give his name and e-mail address for contact information. We use this information to contact the user about services on our site for which he has subscribed. HPL asks for the user’s grade level and school district, which is used to direct the user to that district’s corresponding curriculum. Other than this, HPL does not ask the user for other demographic information (such as income level or gender) or unique identifiers (such as social security numbers).

HPL uses a payment processing company to bill users for our services. This company does not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.

Log Files
Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. This aggregate information is not linked to personally identifiable information.

We send all new members a welcoming e-mail to verify password and username. Established members may occasionally receive information on services, special deals, or other news from HPL. Users may opt-out of these types of communications by sending an e-mail to support@icoachmath.com.

Service Announcements
On rare occasions, it is necessary to send out a strictly service related announcement. For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance we might send users an e-mail. Generally, users may not opt-out of these communications, though they can deactivate their account. These communications are not promotional in nature.

Customer Service
We communicate with users via e-mail to provide requested services and in regard to issues relating to their account. However, users are welcome to write to us directly at our corporate address listed under “contact us.”

Third Party Advertisers
HPL may share its Web site usage information about users with a reputable third party for the purpose of targeting our Internet banner advertisements on this site and other sites. Top

This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users register to join HPL, they are asked for their name, e-mail address, grade level, and school district. No other information is requested from the user. As part of the registration process, the new user is prompted to create a User ID. HPL highly recommends choosing a User ID that does not contain the user’s actual name, since the User ID will be seen by other users when using forums, message boards, and other interactive features offered on this Site. It is the user’s responsibility to use discretion in creating the User ID. The user also chooses a password at the time of registration. It is the user’s responsibility to keep the password confidential. All of our users’ information is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (such as a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment.
