Angle

Definition of An Angle

  • An angle is formed by two rays with a common endpoint (called the vertex).
 

Examples of An Angle

  • In the figure shown, angle AOB is formed by the rays OA and OB with a common endpoint O.

How many angles are formed by three rays with a common vertex?

Choices:

A. 3

B. 2

C. 1

D. 4

Correct Answer: A

Solution:

Step 1: The figure shown has three rays PQ, PR, and PS with a common vertex P.

Step 2: The angles formed by these 3 rays are QPR, RPS, and QPS.

Step 3: So, three rays can form 3 angles.
